Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 victory over Lyon at Parc des Princes to claim first place in Ligue 1. Senny Mayulu opened the scoring in the 72nd minute before Mika Godts netted his first goal for the club in the 84th minute.
Mika Godts entered the pitch to replace Joao Neves just before the hour mark. The match was delayed by 24 hours from its original Sunday slot because Paris police requested the postponement to redirect resources during violent protests.
Luis Enrique dedicated the win to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who suffered a torn ACL during a 4-2 win against Barcelona. The manager stated, "Mika is an ambitious player with a lot of quality, and he is only 21," while adding that the club signed him for a long-term stay.
Enrique noted that while the team deserves to play more often, it remains difficult within the current squad. The club has won five consecutive Ligue 1 matches, following a poor start where they failed to win any of their first three games this season.
Regarding the Champions League, Enrique said, "We have only played three Champions League games and don't forget that last season we won our first three Champions League games and didn't finish in the top eight." He added that the team is not at 100 percent yet but aims to find a rhythm before the key part of the season in April.
Ousmane Dembele was also unavailable for the fixture due to injuries sustained in the same match against Barcelona. Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos were also sidelined by injuries.
Ten Paris Saint-Germain players were included among 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or. Lyon currently sits in fifth place, ahead of Paris FC on goal difference, while both remain three points behind the defending French champions.
