Regional health experts, programme managers, and policymakers advocated for stronger cooperation and integrated approaches to improve tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS detection and treatment across South Asia. A three-day SAARC Regional Workshop on Scaling up Activities for Improving Case Finding for TB and HIV/AIDS took place to address these public health challenges.
The Common Management Unit (CMU) Pakistan and STAC Nepal jointly organised the event. Participants discussed methods to identify more cases, strengthen integrated services, and enhance coordination between regional stakeholders and national programmes.
Knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices formed a core focus for promoting innovative, evidence-based approaches to disease detection. The workshop highlighted that integrated services are vital for individuals who face significant barriers to accessing healthcare.
Cross-border collaboration and the exchange of technical expertise were explored as primary opportunities to bolster regional cooperation. Sustained regional engagement, improved case-finding strategies, and evidence-based interventions marked the conclusion of the workshop.
