The University of Agriculture Faisalabad and the Punjab Agriculture Extension Department will mobilise approximately 30,000 students for a 10-day field campaign starting 30 October. From 30 October to 8 November, the initiative will promote modern cultivation practices, efficient farm input use, and timely wheat sowing.

Six divisions of Punjab will be covered by the campaign, including Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sahiwal, and Sargodha. Students will visit farms to advocate for improved wheat cultivation techniques and climate-smart agriculture to safeguard food security and boost productivity.

The programme provides students with practical exposure to field-level challenges while strengthening the links between agricultural research and farming practices. UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said increasing wheat production was essential to ensuring national food security and meeting the country's growing food requirements.

The university remains committed to supporting farmers through sustainable technologies, scientific guidance, and collaborative initiatives. Ali noted that the partnership with the Punjab Agriculture Extension Department would expand outreach to farming communities and encourage the adoption of modern wheat production techniques.

Dean of Agriculture Prof Dr Ghulam Murtaza stated the campaign would familiarise students with practical challenges in wheat cultivation, including seed selection, timely sowing, efficient irrigation, fertiliser management and pest control.
