Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired the third meeting of the committee responsible for creating the National Private Equity Framework. Participants reviewed progress regarding taxation reforms, domestic capital mobilisation, and the creation of new investment opportunities.

The committee examined the potential of the private equity market, specifically focusing on business consolidation, acquisitions, new projects, and investor exits. Mobilising domestic capital from pension schemes, mutual funds, insurance companies, and development finance institutions remains the immediate priority, according to the Finance Minister.

Officials discussed treating private equity funds as pass-through vehicles where taxation is applied at the investor level. The meeting included the Secretary Finance, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation.

Aurangzeb directed stakeholders to resolve outstanding regulatory and taxation issues to advance the work on domestic capital mobilisation. The committee highlighted the prospect of building a substantial pipeline of investable opportunities over the next 5 to 10 years.
