The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) launched the second cohort of the Regulatory Sandbox on 3 October 2026. This latest launch follows the conclusion of the first cohort by the SBP in June 2026.

The second cohort applications will address themes including Artificial Intelligence in Financial Services, Payments Innovations, Technology enabled Inward Remittances, and Open Theme-NextGen Financial Services. Previously, the SBP had launched the Regulatory Sandbox in August 2025.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) directed banks to process sugar export cases for 200,000 metric tonnes of sugar. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) previously approved the export of this 200,000 metric tonnes of sugar.

G7 countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of oil and oil-derivative products over the next four months. Previously, the G7 nations also agreed to immediately release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil.

Dan Abbot observed a humpback whale in the Celtic Deep off the Welsh coast on 25 September, while on a scheduled snorkelling trip in the Celtic Sea. Based on the whale's white pectoral fin, the absence of tail lifting, and visible barnacles, Abbot identified the animal as a humpback whale.

Abbot initially thought the whale might be a minke or fin whale. Prior to this sighting, Abbot and his group witnessed six fin whales and over 1,000 dolphins during the trip.
