The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has decided to examine new textbooks for students from nursery through Grade 5. This decision follows the identification of several errors within the curriculum.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz previously gave her approval for the new curriculum intended for students up to Grade 5. The Education Department stated that the review process will be finished within one to two weeks.
Authorities sent the new textbooks to education experts to pinpoint mistakes before the printing phase began. Officials subsequently returned the books for a secondary review.
Publishers have requested that PECTAA provide the new textbooks as quickly as possible. The new curriculum is scheduled for introduction during the 2027–28 academic year.
Private schools are set to start their academic year on 1 January 2027. Officials provided assurances to publishers that all textbooks under the new curriculum will be in the market before the new academic year starts.
However, delays in the printing process could mean the new textbooks are not available even by March. The government also announced the provision of 500,000 Chromebooks for students.
