The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced a new feature on the Hajj Digital Portal that allows successful Hajj applicants to nominate a close relative as a substitute. This new facility is intended to make the substitution process easier and more accessible by allowing applicants and their families to complete the required formalities online.

Under the new facility, applicants who have been selected for Hajj can submit an online request through the Pak Hajj App to nominate a close family member in their place if they are unable to perform the pilgrimage due to an unexpected situation. In the event of an applicant’s death, a close relative can also submit an online application to be considered as a substitute.

The ministry has made it mandatory for substitute applicants to be registered on the Hajj Digital Portal. Applicants will also be required to upload supporting documents justifying the substitution request, such as medical reports or a death certificate, through the app.

According to the ministry, the Hajj dues already deposited by the original applicant will be utilised for the substitute applicant.
