Maulana Fazlur Rehman mocked Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in the National Assembly regarding recent security developments in Iran. Rehman pointed out that a defence agreement is being formed in Iran while the minister remained in the assembly.

“Asif sahib is also present here. A defence agreement is being made in Iran, and the defence minister is sitting here,” Rehman said. The opposition leader added, “Koi sharam hoti hai, koi haya hoti hai,” during his critique.

High-level talks took place in Tehran on 27 October to discuss regional security and the prevention of military escalation. Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces, met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the proceedings.

Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin also attended the summit. These three envoys represented the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye signed in August 2026.

Asif claimed that Pakistan would use its full force to defend Saudi Arabia under the terms of the pact. Rehman urged the government and opposition to create a new Charter of Democracy.

The government also announced the distribution of 500,000 Chromebooks for students. Islamabad will host the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2026 from 12 to 13 November 2026.
