Pakistan’s imports from the United States surged by 39 percent year-on-year to $3.27 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.
This marked a significant increase from the previous fiscal year when imports stood at $2.35 billion. The rise was attributed to US trade policies and tariff measures that encouraged increased importation from the United States.
Despite this growth in imports, exports to the US also saw an uptick, reaching $6.125 billion during FY2025-26, up by 94 percent of Pakistan’s total exports to North America.
Imports from North America as a whole rose by 6.52 percent to $3.822 billion in the same period, with the US remaining the largest contributor to this increase.
Pakistan’s overall merchandise exports to North America increased marginally by 1.32 percent to $6.503 billion compared to $6.418 billion a year earlier.
However, exports to Canada and Mexico declined during the fiscal year. Exports to Canada fell by 2.3 percent to $377.5 million, while shipments to Mexico also saw a decrease.
Beyond North America, Pakistan’s exports to South America increased significantly by 15 percent to $402.4 million in FY2025-26.
