World champion Lando Norris expressed confidence in McLaren’s ability to compete for a podium finish in the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. Norris, who has fond memories of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, where he secured a victory in 2024 and podium finishes in 2023 and last year, is optimistic about the team’s prospects.

In the last four races, McLaren has struggled, picking up only one podium finish in Spain last month. Norris, who finished ninth in the rain-affected Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia last Sunday, highlighted the team’s efforts to address the issues affecting their performance.

The Englishman noted that straight-line speed has been a significant problem for the team. However, he remains hopeful that the team has figured out the issues and can turn their fortunes around in Singapore. Norris added, ‘It’ll be good to see this weekend if some of that performance that we were missing does come back.’

Norris has also finished on the podium in four of the previous sprint races this season, indicating his belief in the team’s potential. He stated, ‘I need to get on the track first and see how much better it is.’

The Singapore Grand Prix will feature a sprint race and the threat of rain, which could impact the race. Norris acknowledged the circuit’s unique characteristics, noting, ‘It is obviously a circuit where straight line speeds are not the highest priority.’

Norris’s confidence stems from his past experiences and the team’s recent efforts. He emphasized the importance of on-track performance, saying, ‘They did a lot of work just trying to figure out things. I’m hopeful that it will be better this weekend, but honestly I’ll get on the track and see.’
