Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against its planned September 27 long march, urging the party to reconsider its decision.
Speaking at a press briefing, Naqvi emphasized that PTI can never achieve its goals through such protests and advised the party to ‘not enter a dead-end street’.
The minister’s remarks come as PTI prepares for a nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad to press for the release of its incarcerated founder, Imran Khan.
Naqvi stated, “We have clearly told them (PTI) that they can never achieve anything through such drama, and I will say again that there is still time; they should not go into this situation.”
He further added, “Do not harm yourself and your workers,” addressing the potential risks of the protest to party members and supporters.
The interior minister also held that PTI’s majority leadership was not in favor of the march, but if the party proceeds, the government will ensure the implementation of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.
Naqvi vowed, “We have the IHC order, and the government will ensure its implementation. If they do, then we have the IHC order, and the government will ensure its implementation.”
In response to a question regarding the government’s long-term solution to PTI’s frequent protest calls, the interior minister stated, “I believe this time we will find a permanent solution; we will not leave it halfway.”
