Government College University (GCU) Lahore and the University of Regina, Canada, have entered into a significant academic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Programme Agreement (SEPA).
The agreements were signed during a ceremony at GCU’s main campus on Friday, with GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry and UoR Associate Vice President (International) Haroon Chaudhry in attendance.
Under the SEPA, both universities will offer exchange opportunities for up to three undergraduate students from each institution every academic year. GCU students must complete at least two years of study before applying, while UoR students must complete 30 credit hours.
The partnership also includes access to research opportunities through Mitacs, a Canadian national research organization. Eligible students can apply for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship, a 12-week paid program offering practical research experience in fields including technology, engineering, and social sciences.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry briefed the Canadian delegation on GCU’s research programs and history. He highlighted the university’s focus on not only academics but also skills development, character building, and overall student development through co-curricular activities.
