The EPBD, a prominent economic think tank in Pakistan, unveiled comprehensive structural reform proposals aimed at guiding the country towards sustainable growth. The sweeping reforms propose cutting taxes for businesses and salaried individuals to stimulate economic activity while shifting focus toward export-led growth.
In a historic move, EPBD has developed ‘Shadow Policy Documents’, including an alternative tax framework, shadow federal budget, economic survey, and five-year development plan that prioritizes citizen welfare and business interests. These documents aim to serve as constructive criticism of the government’s policies with concrete alternatives for improving Pakistan’s economy.
The EPBD Chairman Dr Gohar Ejaz highlighted during his speech at a press conference held in Islamabad, that these ‘Shadow Policies’, when combined and implemented, could help achieve up to 8.5 percent annual growth by FY2031.
