England's batting performance was complemented by their fielding, particularly by Liam Dawson, who took three wickets in the final over of the powerplay, including two in two balls, contributing significantly to Sri Lanka's early dismissal.

Jos Buttler and England captain Harry Brook, who scored 80 and 114 not out respectively in the first T20I, got off to a strong start, with England 79-3 in seven overs.

Sri Lanka, sent in to bat, managed only 56 runs inside the powerplay, with the final over of the powerplay proving crucial as Dawson's quick work with the ball sealed the win for England.

The match was part of a series that has seen England's T20 form continue to impress, with their 119-run victory in the first T20I in Southampton setting the tone for the second match.

With the series finale scheduled for Saturday at Old Trafford, England's dominance in the T20 format is evident, and they are well-positioned to secure the series win.
