Forensic evidence in the murder case of Hina Javed, a 45-year-old digital media executive, has revealed that DNA samples from her husband and domestic worker matched with samples collected from the crime scene, according to a DNA analysis report.
The report, obtained by Dawn, states that the DNA samples of Hina’s domestic servant matched with postmortem swabs collected from her body, and that traces of spermatoza were found on several items, including a stained carpet.
Additionally, the DNA profile of Hina’s husband matched with samples collected from multiple items at the crime scene, and the Y-STR profile from Hina’s shalwar found a mixture of DNA from at least three individuals, excluding her husband, father-in-law, and domestic servant as contributors.
Hina was found dead at her residence in Rawalpindi in August, with signs of torture noted by police. Her husband and domestic worker were arrested, while her father-in-law was questioned as part of the investigation.
Earlier, Hina’s family had written to the National Commission on Human Rights, alleging that the police probe was compromised. In response, the Punjab government has constituted a three-member high-powered committee to review the investigation into the murder.
The committee was formed to ensure a thorough and impartial review of the case, with the aim of providing justice to the victim and her family.
Geo News English reported that the DNA report also showed matches involving Hina’s husband and domestic worker at four locations, further linking them to the crime scene.
The family of Hina Javed continues to allege that the police probe lacks impartiality, and hopes that the new committee will provide a fair and transparent investigation.
