Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, Chief Executive Officer of the National Productivity Organization (NPO), called for strengthening international regulatory compliance and improving quality standards to increase the global competitiveness of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors.

Chaudhry spoke at an industry dissemination seminar on 30 October at the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) office in Karachi. The NPO, operating under the Ministry of Industries and Production, organised the event in partnership with the PPMA and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

Adnan Hirani stated that pharmaceutical companies must collaborate across the industry to meet international regulatory requirements through technical capacity building. Hirani also noted that expanding pharmaceutical exports requires continuous improvements in production capabilities, manufacturing practices, and quality standards to reach new international markets.

Dr. Shaiekh Kaiser Waheed highlighted the importance of aligning quality management systems and manufacturing practices with international standards to ensure regulatory compliance and improve export readiness. Additional industry dissemination seminars were conducted in Rawalpindi on 26 October and in Lahore on 28 October. The programme aligns with Pakistan’s Pharmaceuticals Export Strategy 2023–2027.

Officials said the initiative also supports the objectives of URAAN Pakistan and the National Economic Transformation Plan 2024–29.
