The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) and its Executive Committee nominated S.M. Tanveer as the candidate for the presidency of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). This nomination specifically targets the 2026–2028 term for the FPCCI presidency.

A meeting confirming this nomination took place on 5 October 2026. Attendees at the meeting included S.M. Tanveer, Zubair Chhaya, Syed Farrukh Qandhari, Nasir Sheikh, Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Mian Zahid Hussain, Abdul Momin Khan, Shaukat Ahmed, Ikram Rajput, Masood Naqi, Salim-ul-Zaman, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Sheikh Manzar Alam, Johar Qandahari, Junaid Naqi, Ehteshamuddin, Hanif Gohar, Noor Khan, alongside former KATI presidents, Executive Committee members, and various business community representatives.

Sheikh Umer Rehan stated that S.M. Tanveer demonstrated a prudent strategy while serving as caretaker provincial minister during Pakistan's economic instability. Furthermore, Rehan asserted that S.M. Tanveer is suitable for FPCCI leadership because he can incorporate industrial and trader concerns into the national economic agenda.

Chhaya added that the FPCCI requires a leader capable of strongly presenting the business community’s case at the policymaking level. The industrial sector currently confronts high interest rates, substantial energy costs, and strict tax policies.

It remains clear that FPCCI leadership must align with the country’s actual economic challenges.
