New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has suffered a significant injury during a promotional shoot, casting doubt over his participation in the upcoming Twenty20 series against India.

The dislocation of Ravindra’s right shoulder occurred during a commercial shoot with Sky in Auckland on Wednesday, as reported by New Zealand Cricket.

The injury has raised concerns among cricket fans and team management, with New Zealand’s performance manager Mike Sandle expressing disappointment for the player.

Initial medical assessments have confirmed that major structural damage was not sustained, but the rehabilitation process will determine when Ravindra can return to play.

Sandle stated, “We are gutted for Rachin. As with all commercial shoots involving our players, the activities were agreed in advance by all parties, with appropriate safety measures in place. It was a bit of a freak accident, and we’ll continue to review our processes around events like this in the future.”

New Zealand will host India in five T20 matches from October 22, followed by five One-Day Internationals and two tests in November.

The injury has highlighted the risks associated with commercial activities for professional athletes, prompting a review of safety protocols by the New Zealand Cricket board.

We are gutted for Rachin.
