Despite the overall decline, the equity market’s turnover increased to 1.55 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($4.7 million), up from 1.13 billion rupees in the previous session.

Foreign investors played a significant role in the market’s movement, acting as net sellers, offloading stocks worth 116.5 million rupees. In contrast, domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.52 billion rupees.

The performance of the healthcare and energy sectors highlighted the volatility in the market, with these sectors accounting for a substantial portion of the overall decline.
