Key Takeaways

  • Lundali-1 well in Sindh starts gas production.
  • Gas supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited.
  • Well produces 10 million standard cubic feet per day.

OGDCL, in partnership with Mari Energies (MARI), has announced the commencement of gas production from the Lundali-1 well in the Sindh province. The well, which is part of the Sukhpur-II Block, is currently producing 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas.

The gas produced is being supplied to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC), a significant step in enhancing Pakistan's domestic gas supply. The well's production is contributing to the national energy grid, providing an additional source of indigenous gas.

OGDCL, as a 30% working interest partner, is pleased with the successful commissioning of the Lundali-1 Well, which achieved first gas on September 06, 2026. The well is currently operating under the present joint venture arrangement, which includes Prime Global Energies Limited (25% working interest), MARI (30% working interest), and Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company Limited (15% working interest).

The Sukhpur-II Block, located in the Kirthar Foldbelt Basin, is situated approximately 270 kilometres north of Karachi. The Petroleum Concession Agreement and Exploration Licence for this block became effective on December 02, 2025, marking the start of the current joint venture.

OGDCL, Pakistan's largest exploration and production company, holds extensive exploration acreage, covering over 40% of the country's total awarded area with net hydrocarbons of oil and gas. This development is part of their ongoing efforts to increase domestic gas production.

The production from the Lundali-1 well is expected to play a crucial role in meeting Pakistan's growing energy demands, reducing reliance on imported gas, and supporting the national energy security.
