Pakistan women’s team captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10 percent of her match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during a Women’s Asia Cup Group A match against India on Saturday.

The incident, which took place after Fatima dismissed India opener Shafali Verma, saw the captain receive a fine and a demerit point, bringing her total to two demerit points within a 24-month period.

Fatima admitted the offense and accepted the sanctions proposed by Supriya Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, avoiding a formal hearing.

The fine and demerit point were imposed for using language, actions, or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction, as per Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

The match, which saw India dominate with a seven-wicket victory, ended with Pakistan scoring just 55 runs, despite Fatima’s efforts to secure three wickets with the ball.

Despite the heavy defeat, Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semifinals remain alive, with the team set to face Hong Kong, China, in their next Group A match today.

A victory in this match would secure Pakistan’s place in the last four of the tournament.

This is Fatima’s second offense within the 24-month period, with her first demerit point issued following a T20I against Ireland in Dublin on August 6, 2025.
