The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an internal disciplinary inquiry following reports of alleged misconduct involving former Test players Imamul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan.

In a statement, PCB media director Amir Mir confirmed the initiation of the inquiry, stating, 'The PCB has initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct, which are currently being reviewed internally.'

According to reports, the PCB allegedly obtained data from the mobile phones of Imam and Rizwan after their team’s defeat by England in the second Test at Lord’s. The phones were reportedly taken by the team’s security officer and returned several hours later.

The PCB has not officially confirmed these reports, with Amir Mir cautioning against treating unverified claims as established fact. He stated, 'At this stage, any speculative reports or unverified claims circulating on certain platforms, particularly those originating from hostile external sources, should not be regarded as credible.'

This development comes amidst ongoing turmoil for Pakistan’s Test team, which has suffered two heavy defeats against England. The PCB made sweeping changes, releasing seven players, including Imam and Rizwan, from the Test squad and replacing interim head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed with Mike Hesson.

Imam’s absence from the Lord’s Test had already raised questions, with Aaqib Javed, a member of the national selection committee and PCB’s high-performance director, calling for an inquiry into the matter.

The PCB’s latest statement did not disclose the nature of the investigation or name Imam and Rizwan, emphasizing that stakeholders and the public should rely on official PCB communications regarding the matter.

The PCB has declined to provide further details, stating, 'The process is being conducted under PCB regulations, ensuring that all concerned individuals are given due consideration.'
