Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced a national digital stack aimed at expanding digital services and opportunities for Pakistan’s young population.

The initiative, launched at the Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion during the LEAP 2026 conference in Riyadh, seeks to drive Pakistan’s digital transformation through new legislation, better connectivity, and investment in the technology sector.

Khawaja highlighted the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, which established the National Digital Commission and Pakistan Digital Authority to oversee the country’s digital agenda.

Other key measures include the upcoming 5G spectrum auction, special technology zones, and tax measures for the IT sector, all designed to strengthen Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.

The minister emphasized the importance of building digital infrastructure to support the national digital stack, while also stressing the role of the country’s young workforce and private sector in developing new products and services.

Khawaja also underscored the need for strong institutions and measurable targets to ensure that digital transformation projects deliver tangible results.

The Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion featured 25 startups and 50 Pakistani technology companies showcasing solutions in artificial intelligence, automation, and other digital technologies.

Pakistan’s participation at LEAP 2026 is aimed at attracting foreign investment, developing international business partnerships, and helping Pakistani technology companies access global markets.

The minister also highlighted plans to expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia in digital technology, innovation, and skills development.
