Key Takeaways

  • Private schools produced 72.73% of Punjab's overall board toppers.

  • Seven out of nine boards saw private institutions secure top positions.

In the Secondary School Certificate First Annual Examination 2026, private schools in Punjab have significantly outperformed government institutions, securing a majority of the overall toppers.

Of the eleven students who secured the highest positions, eight belonged to private schools, while only three studied at government institutions. This indicates that private schools produced approximately 72.73% of Punjab’s board toppers, compared to 27.27% from government schools.

Notably, private schools exclusively produced the overall toppers for Lahore, D.G. Khan, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala boards. The top scorer in Lahore was Amina Mahboob of The Educators High School for Girls, Pattoki, with a perfect score of 1,192 out of 1,200 marks.

In Faisalabad, Umna Salahuddin from The City Grammar School also achieved the highest mark. Similarly, in Rawalpindi, Muhammad Manan Ahtsham topped his board at Al Amir Foundation Public School. In Multan, Mehreen Rasool of Ibn-e-Seena Girls Higher Secondary School secured 1,190 marks.

Gujranwala had two joint overall toppers: Adeena Rashid from Future Vision Secondary School for Girls and Sadiqa Almas from A+ School System for Girls, both achieving 1,190 marks. These results highlight the strong performance of private schools in multiple districts.

Government institutions also delivered top results but were less frequent. Nabeel Ahmad Kazmi topped the Sargodha Board at Government High School 47/TDA with 1,188 marks, and Abdul Haseeb secured the Bahawalpur Board topper position at Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School.

Sahiwal was the only board where both private and government institutions shared the overall first position. Munsaf Bashir from Government Higher Secondary School 168/9-L and Abdullah Nasir from New Beacon House High School, Arifwala, both achieved 1,191 marks.

The data suggests a clear trend in favor of private schools, with seven out of nine boards seeing top positions held by students from private institutions.
