The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced substantial recoveries of movable and immovable assets during the second quarter of 2026, totaling Rs2.45 trillion. This figure marks a significant increase from the Rs456.3 billion recovered in the corresponding period last year.
According to NAB, the bureau made direct and indirect recoveries worth Rs2,452 billion during this quarter. In the first quarter of 2026, it had already recovered assets worth Rs2,962 billion, bringing the total for the first half of the year to Rs5,414 billion.
Notably, NAB Sukkur led in recovery efforts by recovering 853,678 acres of land belonging to various departments and authorities, valued at Rs1.01 trillion. This land has since been mutated in favor of the Sindh government.
NAB Balochistan recovered 209,544 acres of state land worth Rs604.64 billion, including forest areas and prime natural reserves such as Hingol National Park along the Coastal Highway.
Meanwhile, NAB Karachi recovered 11,422 acres of illegally allotted state land and land leased under dubious arrangements to housing societies and individuals, valued at Rs467.11 billion.
NAB Lahore recovered 1,909 acres of land belonging to the Punjab Cooperatives Board for Liquidation (PCBL), along with other state land, worth Rs288.29 billion. Additionally, it recovered 810 acres in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, valued at Rs66.63 billion.
In cases related to housing and financial fraud, NAB compensated over 24,365 affected individuals with the return of their looted money/assets, amounting to Rs42.303 billion.
The bureau has also transitioned to an E-Office system through paper-free and automated processes. It is now in its revolutionary transformation phase, switching to an AI-based E-Investigation regime that will harness machine learning to detect patterns, prioritize high-risk cases, and expedite the processes.
Further, the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy (PACA) has been fully operationalized as a center of excellence to cater to the training needs of NAB's workforce.
