Key Takeaways

  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated PML-N candidates after their success in the second phase of AJK Legislative Assembly elections.
  • The prime minister credited the party’s hard work and dedication for the results, emphasizing public confidence in PML-N policies.
  • Despite opposition claims of rigging, PM Sharif welcomed the results as a reflection of public support.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership and winning candidates following their gains in the second phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections.

In a message after the results were announced, PM Sharif expressed special felicitation to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, who played an active role in the party’s campaign efforts.

The prime minister attributed the successful outcome to the “hard work, dedication and tireless efforts” of the party leadership and workers, highlighting that PML-N had mounted a robust electoral campaign across AJK.

He congratulated the successful candidates, asserting that the results reflected public confidence in the party’s policies and political direction. Development, prosperity and public welfare remained key priorities for PML-N in AJK.

PM Sharif also emphasized the importance of political parties participating in the electoral process to strengthen democratic traditions in the region.

However, the victory celebrations were marred by disputes over the electoral process. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) boycotted the polls, while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari accused PML-N of widespread rigging during the elections.

Despite these allegations, PM Sharif rejected the opposition narrative and welcomed the results as a reflection of public support for his party. He congratulated the victorious candidates and senior leadership, stating that their success was due to the trust placed in them by the people of AJK.

The prime minister’s message underscored PML-N’s commitment to development and welfare in AJK, positioning it as a key player in the region's political landscape.
