President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Usman Shaukat, met with Pakistan's Trade and Investment Counsellor in New York, Adnan Mehmood Awan, on Friday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and the United States.

The meeting focused on identifying new avenues for expanding economic ties and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) from the US into Pakistan. Both parties expressed a commitment to fostering stronger business relationships through collaborative efforts.

During the discussion, Shaukat highlighted the importance of leveraging existing trade agreements and exploring potential areas where US companies could invest in Pakistan’s manufacturing, technology, and services sectors. Awan echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for mutual cooperation to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities.

The RCCI President stated, 'Our goal is to create a conducive environment for US businesses to enter the Pakistani market and contribute to our economic growth.' He added that the chamber would work closely with the counsellor’s office to facilitate these initiatives.

Awan responded by saying, 'We are keen on supporting Pakistani enterprises in accessing new markets and technologies. This partnership will help us achieve shared objectives of mutual prosperity.'

Both parties agreed to establish a working group to follow up on the meeting and develop concrete action plans. They also discussed potential joint ventures and collaborative projects that could benefit both economies.

The collaboration between RCCI and Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Counsellor in New York is seen as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade relations and promoting economic growth through increased investment.
