The administrative control of four basic health units in Larkana has been transferred to the Pakistan Public Health Institute (PPHI), as per directives from the Government of Sindh’s Health Department. The handover process was conducted by Dr. Shaukat Abro, District Health Officer (DHO) for Larkana.

The facilities handed over include MCH Murad Wahan, GD Gajan Pur, GD Nazar, and City Larkana health units. These basic health units play a critical role in providing primary healthcare services to the local population.

Dr. Shaukat Abro, who oversaw the handover process, stated that the transfer is aimed at improving the operational efficiency of these facilities. He noted that the PPHI will now be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of these health units.

According to official records, the MCH Murad Wahan facility serves a population of approximately 50,000 people, while GD Gajan Pur caters to around 30,000 residents. The GD Nazar unit has a service area of about 40,000 individuals, and City Larkana health facilities cover an estimated 60,000 inhabitants.

The transfer is part of the broader strategy by the Sindh government to enhance healthcare delivery in rural and urban areas through effective management practices. Dr. Abro highlighted that this move will ensure better coordination and resource allocation for improved public health outcomes.

Local residents have expressed mixed reactions to the handover, with some welcoming the change as a step towards better healthcare services, while others remain cautious about potential changes in service quality. Community leaders are hopeful that the PPHI’s management will bring about positive reforms.

The Pakistan Public Health Institute (PPHI) has committed to maintaining and improving the existing infrastructure of these health units. They have assured local authorities and residents that they will work closely with the community to ensure seamless transition and continued service delivery.
