The awards ceremony, which will be held at London’s Roundhouse on September 22, aims to honor an array of indie musicians, labels, companies, and creators across various categories. The event is part of the Association of Independent Music's (AIM) recognition of the U.K.’s independent music community.

Following Fcukers are six other acts with two nominations each: Jalen Ngonda from Daptone Records, Jim Legxacy from XL Recordings, Jorja Smith from FAMM, Nova Twins from Marshall Records, Romy from XL Recordings, and Tiana Major9 from +1 Records. These nominations reflect the diverse talent within the independent music sector.

Young Records leads in label nominations with five across all categories, followed by XL Recordings and Ninja Tune with four apiece, and FAMM and Marshall Records each earning three nominations. The competition for best independent album includes BICEP, Blawan, Geese, Mitski, Nova Twins, Prostitute, Robyn Scaler, and Thundercat.

The 2026 Independent Music Awards will feature a wide range of categories, including best live performer and best independent record store, with submissions open through the official website. Gee Davy, CEO of AIM, expressed excitement about the nominations, stating that they showcase the broad spectrum of success and authenticity within the U.K.’s independent music community.

Davy further noted, 'The array of artists and genres on display here demonstrates once again that the independent music sector is the most exciting, authentic, and groundbreaking place in the industry.' The CEO also highlighted the fresh new look and feel of the awards ceremony, reflecting the consistent evolution of the independent music sector.
