Residents Demand Immediate Restoration of Gas Supply in Naseerabad

Residents Demand Immediate Restoration of Gas Supply in Naseerabad

Key Takeaways

  • Hundreds of households in Federal B Area’s Block 14 (Naseerabad) remain without gas supply for over a month.
  • Residents appeal to Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik to take immediate action.
  • Complaints through SSGC's helpline have not resulted in resolution, residents claim.

Hundreds of households in Naseerabad, Block 14 of the Federal B Area, remain without gas supply for over a month, leading to significant disruptions in daily life. The situation has prompted residents to appeal directly to Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, urging immediate restoration of the service and accountability for those responsible.

The affected residents have expressed frustration at the prolonged suspension of gas supply, which they say has made it impossible to cook meals at home. Many families have resorted to purchasing food from hotels and restaurants three times a day, despite soaring living costs. Some low-income families are unable to afford these additional expenses, leading them to skip meals.

The residents have repeatedly registered complaints through SSGC’s 1199 Helpline, only receiving assurances that the issue would be resolved within 24 to 48 hours. However, no gas supply has been restored, and they claim that technical teams marked their cases as ‘resolved’ without visiting the area or contacting any of the complainants.

In a statement, residents said: 'Should we pay our electricity and gas bills or spend our entire income buying cooked food every day?' They argue that this situation raises serious concerns over the transparency and credibility of SSGC’s complaint correction mechanism, undermining public confidence in the utility's customer service.

Calling the situation ‘unacceptable’, the residents have urged Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to order immediate restoration of gas supply to Federal B Area, Block 14 (Naseerabad), and conduct an inquiry into the handling of consumer complaints. They believe that such action is necessary to ensure fair treatment and transparency in service provision.

The SSGC has not provided a statement regarding these allegations or the status of the complaints. The residents continue to await resolution, highlighting the ongoing impact on their daily lives.
