Rupee Continues Ascendence Against Dollar

Rupee Continues Ascendence Against Dollar

Key Takeaways

  • Pakistani rupee gains for 202nd consecutive day, closing at 277.92 against US dollar.
  • Gains of three paisas recorded today, with significant increases seen against British Pound and Euro.
  • Stability observed against UAE Dirham and Saudi Riyal.

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) has continued its upward trajectory, closing for the 202nd consecutive day in green against the US dollar. Today, it closed at 277.92 after gaining three paisas compared to yesterday’s rate of 277.9530.

The gains were particularly notable against major currencies such as the British Pound (GBP) and Euro (EUR), with the rupee appreciating by 87 paisas and 49 paisas, respectively. The currency also showed a slight gain of 64 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).

In contrast, the PKR saw a decline of 60 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD), but overall, it maintained its value against other key currencies like the UAE Dirham (AED) and Saudi Riyal (SAR).

The stability observed in these major currencies suggests that market forces are currently favoring the PKR. The gains have been consistent since December 25, 2025, indicating a sustained positive trend for the national currency.

Economic analysts attribute this upward movement to various factors including improved foreign exchange reserves and better trade balances. However, they caution that long-term stability will depend on continued economic reforms and investor confidence.

The rupee’s performance against the US dollar has been particularly noteworthy, with a steady decline in its value over the past few months. This trend is expected to continue as the central bank implements monetary policies aimed at stabilizing the currency.

Businesses and investors are closely monitoring these developments, with some expressing optimism about the potential for further appreciation of the PKR. However, others remain cautious due to ongoing economic challenges.
