GWM Launches Affordable Haval H6 PHEV FWD in Pakistan

Key Takeaways

  • Haval has unveiled a new front-wheel-drive variant of the H6 PHEV.
  • The new model offers improved driving range compared to its AWD counterpart.
  • Key features include an infotainment display and advanced safety systems.

GWM, through its Haval brand, has launched a new front-wheel-drive (FWD) variant of the H6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in Pakistan. This move aims to provide consumers with an affordable alternative to the existing all-wheel-drive model.

The new H6 PHEV FWD is now available at dealerships across the country and has started arriving, though its official price remains undisclosed. The vehicle's drivetrain has been simplified compared to the AWD version, featuring a single electric motor driving the front wheels paired with a DHT-1 hybrid transmission.

While the new variant produces 322 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque—slightly less than the 360 horsepower and 760 Nm in the AWD model—it offers enhanced driving range. The FWD version boasts an electric-only range of 106 km under NEDC conditions, with a combined driving range of 1,106 km. This is slightly higher than the AWD model’s 100 km EV range and 1,043 km combined range.

Despite the reduced power output, the H6 PHEV FWD retains many premium features from its AWD counterpart. These include a 14.6-inch infotainment display, adaptive cruise control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 19-inch alloy wheels, ventilated, heated, memory, and welcome seats, automatic parking, autonomous reverse assist, a 540-degree camera system, powered hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and downhill assist. The vehicle also supports 34 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in under 28 minutes.

According to PakWheels, the H6 PHEV FWD is expected to offer a more accessible option for potential buyers who prioritize cost over all-wheel drive capabilities. The vehicle’s drivetrain simplification and retained premium features make it an attractive choice for those seeking a balance between affordability and advanced technology.

The launch of this new variant marks GWM's continued commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup in Pakistan, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.
