OPF Chairman Denies Link to JAAC Social Media Claims

OPF Chairman Denies Link to JAAC Social Media Claims

Key Takeaways

  • OPF Chairman Syed Qamar Raza clarified his personal initiative with the Joint Awami Action Committee.
  • He rejected claims made by JAAC-linked social media accounts, stating it was a well-intentioned effort for peace.
  • Raza emphasized that his actions were solely in line with OPF’s mandate to address overseas Pakistanis' concerns.

Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), has issued a clarification regarding recent claims made by social media accounts linked to the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). In a statement from his office, Raza stated that his contact with JAAC was a personal initiative aimed at persuading the group to abandon violence and pursue peaceful resolutions.

Raza’s statement came in response to a press release issued by JAAC, which had alleged that he was involved in a coordinated effort. According to Raza, the JAAC press release distorted what he described as a well-intentioned personal initiative undertaken solely for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and addressing their concerns.

The Chairman emphasized that his actions were driven by his commitment to the country and its people. He stated, 'As chairman of OPF, my foremost priority is the welfare of our overseas compatriots and addressing any real or perceived issues they may have.'

Raza further clarified that while most JAAC members responded positively to the proposal for a peaceful solution, some elements attempted to exploit the initiative for what he termed ‘cheap media gratification.’ He stressed, 'I represent only my people and my institution. No negative campaign will deter me from pursuing efforts aimed at peace, reconciliation, and public welfare.'

He added that his mandate was clear: 'My mandate is driven by my commitment to the country and its people. I am not swayed by any external pressures or campaigns against me.' Raza’s statement underscores OPF's dedication to addressing the concerns of overseas Pakistanis through peaceful means.

The clarification issued by the Office of the Chairman, Board of Governors, OPF, highlights that the initiative was a personal one and not part of any broader strategy. It further emphasizes that OPF remains committed to resolving issues peacefully and in line with its mandate.

In conclusion, Raza’s statement serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by organizations like OPF to promote peace and address the concerns of overseas Pakistanis through constructive dialogue.
