The District Education Authority (DEA) Rawalpindi has initiated disciplinary actions against 160 schools following poor performance in the 2026 9th class examinations, according to a statement from the DEA.

Of the 121,739 candidates who appeared in the examination, 45,724 passed, while 76,015 failed, resulting in an overall pass rate of 37.56 percent.

As a result, 9th grade in-charges and school principals from 160 schools have received show-cause notices, while teachers from the 40 zero-result schools have been suspended under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act.

To improve education standards, the authority has initiated training sessions for teachers, with special attention given to 9th and 10th grade students.

Assistant commissioners have been assigned by the deputy commissioner to monitor the situation in schools, with regular visits to 10 schools over the past two days to review teaching standards and ensure proper student instruction.

The DEA has also started training sessions for teachers to enhance their effectiveness in preparing students for future 9th grade examinations, aiming to improve overall performance.

These measures are part of a broader effort to address the challenges faced by Rawalpindi’s education system and ensure better academic outcomes for students.
