Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan directed officials to develop a detailed business plan for Pakistan Post to address the institution's financial losses and administrative hurdles. The minister chaired a high-level meeting to review reform initiatives and the current status of the postal service.

During the session, the Federal Secretary for Communications and the Director General of Pakistan Post provided a briefing on the organization's present situation. Khan stated that the lack of a viable business strategy and the historical provision of free services caused the organization's financial distress.

The minister expressed concern over the 10-year delay in digitizing the postal system, describing the transition as an urgent necessity. The new business plan intends to improve financial stability, speed up digitalization, and secure the positions of 22,000 employees.

Khan instructed senior officials to create a coordinated programme for submission to the Prime Minister. Pakistan Post hired 4,000 extra workers in 2023.
