The Pakistan Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has initiated the process of registering cloud service providers under its stringent data security policy to ensure that these services meet specific quality standards, safeguarding both national and public information from potential threats. This move aligns with their ‘Pakistan Cloud First Policy’ which was announced earlier this year.
As per MoITT Secretary Nasir Iqbal, the government has put in place strict security criteria for cloud service providers (CSPs), mandating them to pass a rigorous check by third-party auditors. The accreditation process is already underway with six CSP applications received so far.
The new policy will ensure that Pakistan’in data remains protected and secure, providing confidence for both local users as well as international partners in collaborating digitally on shared projects.
