The power breakdown was triggered by a fault in K-Electric’s Extra High Tension (EHT) network, which tripped and temporarily affected electricity transmission to several areas. The company stated that the fault was brief and that power supply had already been restored in some affected localities.

Residents in areas such as Surjani Town, North Nazimabad, Defense, Orangi, Keamari, Sultanabad, PIDC, Hijrat Colony, and Mauripur experienced power outages, with electricity remaining unavailable for around 90 minutes. Other affected areas included New Karachi, Lines Area, Lyari, Quaidabad, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

K-Electric spokespersons reported that the disruption was caused by a brief fault in the EHT network, which temporarily affected electricity transmission to several areas. The company assured the public that power supply remained normal in most parts of Karachi despite the temporary disruption.

Teams from K-Electric are working to address faults at affected grid stations and on the high-tension network. The company stated that electricity had already been restored in some affected localities, while efforts continue to normalize supply in the remaining areas.

The power breakdown, which lasted for around 90 minutes, caused inconvenience to residents and businesses in the affected areas. K-Electric advised the public to remain patient and to follow updates from the company for further information.

The company emphasized that the fault was a brief incident and that efforts are underway to ensure that such disruptions do not occur in the future. K-Electric assured the public that they are committed to maintaining reliable power supply in Karachi.
