Babar, who had not played Test cricket in nearly seven years, faced 20 balls and struck two boundaries before Arshad curtailed his promising start with a delivery that sent him packing.
Arshad Iqbal returned figures of 16-4-55-5, his third first-class five-for, taking his tally to 97 wickets in 26 matches.
