This request comes as the PTI seeks to ensure the participation of its members in the legislative proceedings, which are crucial for the functioning of the National Assembly.

The PTI has also filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court, seeking the immediate tracing and recovery of Sohail Afridi, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister, and his brother, Muhammad Amir, who were allegedly abducted on October 11, 2026.

The petition, filed through senior counsel Bashir Khan Wazir, claims that the detention and disappearance of Afridi and his brother are 'wholly illegal, unlawful, without lawful authority, and of no legal effect.'

The federal government had imposed emergency and governor’s rule in KP on the same day, leading to Afridi and his cabinet members being placed in preventative custody.

Separately, the brother of KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Waqar Ahmad Khan, has also approached the Peshawar High Court, seeking similar relief for his cousin.

Khan’s petition states that his cousin was allegedly abducted from the premises of the Provincial Assembly of KP, Peshawar, at approximately 7:00 pm on October 11, 2026, and that the precise sequence of events and identities of the individuals involved require immediate verification.
