Trump emphasized that if any assistance were provided, it would be at a very low level, given the significant risks involved for the two nations.

The United States and Iran have been engaged in a conflict since February 28, when US and Israeli strikes on Iran were followed by Iranian counterattacks on Israel and Gulf states hosting US bases.

Trump has previously described Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin as 'neutral' in the Iran conflict, but warned that any involvement from these countries would be detrimental to them.

Iranian drone attacks on CIA facilities in the Gulf have raised concerns among US intelligence analysts, who are investigating whether Russia provided targeting information or advanced drone technology to Iran.

European foreign ministers discussed the issue with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a March meeting, with reports suggesting Russia was providing Iran with targeting information.

Despite maintaining close ties with Tehran, both Russia and China have condemned US attacks on Iran, with Beijing describing the US actions as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty.

In September, Trump dismissed a report that Iran had acquired satellite images of a base in Jordan from Chinese entities before an attack that killed three US troops there.

Trump has also warned China against providing support to Iran during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping, with the US ambassador to China reporting that China had given assurances it would not assist Iran.
