The conflict between the Houthis and Yemen’s internationally recognised government has reignited since July, with the Houthi militia expanding their control and launching attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia.

Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have included drone and missile strikes on transport hubs, oil facilities, and other civilian targets, with the world’s largest crude exporter facing significant threats.

Saudi Arabia reported that attacks on Riyadh international airport had killed three people the previous day, while the Houthis claimed to have hit the facility.

In response, Saudi-led coalition forces reportedly struck the airport in Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital Sanaa, reportedly killing two people.

Despite a counter-offensive aimed at recapturing territory, including the area around the Bab al-Mandab strait, Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s government forces have struggled to reverse the Houthi advance.

The conflict continues to escalate, with both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire agreements and engaging in aggressive military operations.
