The meeting was informed that 336 stroke patients have been treated at designated stroke centres, with their lives saved and permanent disabilities prevented. This highlights the effectiveness of the programme in providing timely medical intervention.

In addition to primary stroke centres, comprehensive stroke centres are operational at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences in Lahore and the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Primary stroke centres have also been established at several hospitals in Lahore, including Services Hospital, Mayo Hospital, and Ganga Ram Hospital.

The programme extends to district headquarters hospitals in Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Khanewal, Vehari, and Multan, where stroke treatment injections are available. Furthermore, stroke injections are also provided at DHQ hospitals in Bhakkar, Layyah, Gujranwala, Narowal, Jhang, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, and Gujrat.

Additional stroke centres have been established at Children’s Hospitals in Multan and Faisalabad, Sadiq Abbasi Hospital in Bahawalpur, Nishtar-II, and Allied Hospital-II in Faisalabad. These centres are designed to provide specialized care and treatment for stroke patients.

The establishment of these stroke centres is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce the burden of stroke-related disabilities in Punjab. The government’s commitment to this initiative underscores its dedication to public health and patient care.
