The Sindh cabinet has given the green light to the construction of a 13-story, 445-bed Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi Medical Tower at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH).

The project, which is expected to cost $17 million, will be developed through a public-private partnership involving the Abdul Sattar Edhi Foundation.

Of the total cost, the foundation will contribute $10 million, while the Sindh government will provide the remaining $7 million as a grant-in-aid.

The provincial government’s contribution will be released in two equal installments during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 financial years.

The project was approved during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The cabinet also approved the formation of a supervisory committee headed by Faisal Edhi, which will oversee the implementation of the project.

The committee will ensure financial transparency and monitor the use of funds provided by the provincial government.

The Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi Medical Tower is set to significantly enhance the facilities at the National Institute of Child Health, providing better care for children.
