Pakistan's PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, reacted to Indian media's attempts to link Pakistan to terrorism, stating that India had 'started a war based on a lie and lost miserably.'

Bilawal made these remarks on the social media platform X, in response to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's interview with an Indian media channel.

During the interview, Anwar Ibrahim, who was in India for the BRICS summit, was asked about Israel's actions against Hamas, which he classified as terrorism. When asked if Pakistan's actions against India and in Pahalgam would be considered terrorism, Anwar responded that he would not go that far, citing the sensitivity of the issue in India.

In his reaction, Bilawal emphasized that Malaysia's Prime Minister had exposed Indian propaganda, stating that India had started a war based on a lie and lost miserably.

Bilawal further noted that India now stood 'exposed internationally' and called for India to live up to its commitments made during the ceasefire, urging discussions on all friction points with Pakistan to bring peace, prosperity, and stability to the region.

The conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025 began after an attack on tourists in occupied Kashmir's Pahalgam, which New Delhi linked to Pakistan without evidence. Islamabad strongly denied responsibility and called for a neutral investigation.

Following New Delhi's launch of deadly air strikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir on May 7, Pakistan claimed to have downed five Indian planes in air-to-air combat, later raising the tally to eight.

Tit-for-tat strikes on each other's airbases continued until May 10, when American intervention led to a ceasefire.

In April, on the first anniversary of the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan rejected a renewed Indian propaganda campaign linking it to the attack, deploring that the neighbouring country was focusing on 'weaponising its false narrative' in the midst of a regional crisis.
