In a bid to ensure smooth and fair travel before the Muslim festival of Eid ul Azha, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has mandated inspections across bus services. She directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) along with district police officers to carry out thorough checks on both operating vehicles and terminal facilities.
Maryam emphasized the importance of displaying clear fare lists at all bus stands for passengers’ convenience, thereby preventing any unjustified overcharges which have been a long-standing issue. The Punjab government is making efforts to enhance passenger comfort by guaranteeing availability of cold drinking water in these terminals.
Strict actions are also underway against bus operators involved in exploitative practices, with route permits and licenses being at risk as per the CM’in orders. Transport vehicles operating without proper fitness certificates will not be allowed to run during this auspicious time. The Punjab administration is taking all possible measures for a safe Eid travel.
