A Karachi additional sessions court has directed the South senior superintendent of police (SSP) and Darakhshan station house officer (SHO) to respond to a resident's plea for the registration of a first information report (FIR) over an apartment scuffle in Defence Housing Authority’s (DHA) Phase 6.
The incident, which was captured on video and surfaced on social media last week, involved a woman being hit by another woman who rushed down a flight of stairs with a dumbbell in hand.
The complainant, who approached the court on Monday, requested that a statement be recorded under Section 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and an FIR be filed against the other party.
Sessions Court Judge Abdul Zahoor issued notices to the South SSP and Darakhshan SHO, directing them to submit their replies by Wednesday.
The petitioner named the Sindh government, the Darakhshan SHO and sub-inspector Muhammad Imran, the South Investigation Wing SSP, and the woman accused of attacking her as respondents.
Advocate Muhammad Arif, representing the complainant, also sought protection for his clients and quashing of the FIR registered against the petitioner and her brother.
