The Killers and singer-songwriter Olivia Dean will headline the inaugural Ocean Way Festival in Santa Monica, California. The festival, scheduled for September 26-27, aims to celebrate the city's rich musical heritage while offering a unique experience on its famous beachfront.
Produced by Goldenvoice, the same company behind renowned music festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach, Ocean Way Festival will feature an impressive lineup of artists. In addition to The Killers and Olivia Dean, the festival will include performances from Jack White, Khruangbin, Sublime, Durand Jones and the Indicators, Alvvays, SG Lewis, 54 Ultra, Hiatus Kaiyote, BLOND:ISH, Poolside, and a Hot Chip DJ set.
The festival’s two stages will be located between Santa Monica Pier and Bay Street, with five acts performing on the main stage each day. A smaller, more intimate second stage will provide an additional performance area for fans to enjoy. The famed Santa Monica Pier will frame the main stage, drawing inspiration from the city's musical legacy.
Goldenvoice VP of regional festivals Nic Adler emphasized the festival’s connection to Santa Monica’s history: 'Santa Monica has an incredible music history, and Goldenvoice has been fortunate to be part of that story. From legendary shows at the Civic Auditorium to the origins of Ocean Way Recording just steps from the beach, there’s a creative legacy here that’s unlike anywhere else.'
The festival takes its name from Ocean Way, the Santa Monica street where musician/audio engineer Allen Sides founded the legendary Ocean Way Recording studio in 1968. The event will stretch across the beach between Santa Monica Pier and Bay Street, with standing spots available as well as areas for fans to relax on a blanket.
Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis highlighted the festival’s significance: 'Santa Monica is in the middle of a renaissance. The city is welcoming the world to its shores, and Ocean Way Festival is how we’re making sure our own community is at the center of it.'
Tickets for the general public will go on sale beginning July 23, following a presale on July 22 for Santa Monica residents. The festival promises to be a memorable event that celebrates both local and international talent while honoring Santa Monica’s rich musical history.
