Spotify Launches AI Chatbot for Enhanced Music Experience

Spotify Launches AI Chatbot for Enhanced Music Experience

Key Takeaways

  • Spotify introduces a new AI-powered feature allowing users to chat with the music streaming service.
  • The beta version is available for Premium users aged 18 and older in the U.S., Ireland, and Sweden.
  • Users can interact through voice or text commands to explore music recommendations, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Spotify has rolled out a new AI-powered feature that enables users to chat directly with the service through a built-in chatbot. This innovative addition allows for back-and-forth conversations similar to other AI chatbots, enhancing user interaction with music content.

The feature is currently in beta and is available exclusively to Premium users aged 18 and older in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden. It can be accessed from both the Home screen and the Now Playing view on iOS and Android devices.

Users can interact with Spotify by speaking or typing, making it easier to refine music recommendations, explore podcasts, and audiobooks, or discover new artists. For instance, while listening to a song, users can ask questions about its inspiration, genre, or album release date. The AI chatbot provides additional context, recommends related artists, and shares stories connected to the music.

In addition to music recommendations, the chatbot can also assist with common actions such as saving songs, adding tracks to the queue, following artists, and managing playback using voice or text commands. For podcasts and audiobooks, users can ask questions about featured people, stories, and ideas, as well as their own listening preferences.

Spotify has not disclosed how long the beta will last or when it will expand to other markets. The company is cautiously rolling out this feature to gauge user feedback before a wider release.

This development marks an exciting step for Spotify in leveraging AI technology to enhance its users' experience, making music discovery and interaction more intuitive and engaging.
