SpaceX Continues Starlink Expansion with Record Deployments

Key Takeaways

  • SpaceX has deployed another batch of 29 Starlink satellites.
  • The company is on track to surpass last year's record-setting pace.
  • Over 12,400 Starlink satellites have been launched since the constellation’s inception.

SpaceX has successfully launched an additional batch of 29 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit. This deployment brings the company closer to its ambitious goal of expanding global internet coverage through its satellite network.

According to launch data compiled by Jonathan McDowell's satellite tracker, SpaceX is currently ahead of last year’s record-setting pace for Starlink satellite deployments. In the first half of 2026, SpaceX launched 1,589 satellites, surpassing the 1,489 deployed at the same point in 2025.

This progress comes after a successful 2025 year, during which SpaceX deployed a total of 3,180 Starlink satellites. The company has now launched over 12,400 Starlink satellites since the constellation’s inception, with nearly 11,000 still functioning.

The rapid expansion of the Starlink network is part of SpaceX's broader strategy to provide global internet access through its satellite constellation. The company aims to eventually deploy thousands more satellites to enhance coverage and reliability.

While Amazon’s Leo service has only begun deploying its satellites, SpaceX continues to lead in this space with a significant head start. The deployment numbers underscore the scale and pace of SpaceX's operations in low-Earth orbit.

The success of these deployments is attributed to SpaceX's efficient launch procedures and robust satellite technology. Each Starlink satellite is designed to provide high-speed internet connectivity to remote areas, contributing to the company’s mission of making broadband accessible worldwide.
